The idea for this painting came one day while walking my dog. I passed a column made of unpainted, gray concrete blocks. To this point, I had always painted the block walls from the front. Upon seeing this column, I thought, What if I turned the corner and painted two sides of the structure? An entirely new direction was born on that day. The painting is completely flat, so any perceived perspective is a fool-the-eye illusion. Although it looks like simply grey art, it is a build up of layer upon layer of subtle colors.
